Messsage from John Thomas-National Asst. Technical Director

John Thomas sent us a copy of what will be appearing in the usyouth soccer website.  Thank you for your attendance, we will have more of these sessions.

There were about 27 young ladies that were very coachable and willing to work hard to improve themselves. From what I observed so were the Under-13 Boys and Under-14 girls. I must say that I was impressed with two things about the program that Jeff Cade set up.

One was the coaches who were in attendance, observing and taking notes and asking questions on and off the field. It's always a joy to work with coaches who want to learn. Soccer education is important not only for the coach to improve his or her coaching skills but it's a statement of how they care about the game of soccer.

Two, the players were motivated and eager to hear what was being said to them on the field. When asked to make corrections, they worked hard to get it correct the first time. There were some players that made great strides and others that made small, but all of the players seem to enjoy the training session. I think they may have had some fun. Wow, players working hard, making lots of decision on their own, learning or improving on their skills and having fun. What a concept. Although working with the Under-13 girls was fun for me, it didn't compare to how impressed Jeff, Carrie, Rollo and the other coaches and family members were at how intently the entire group of players were taking notes in our classroom session. Yes, the classroom session. They also asked great questions. How proud the parents and coaches must be. These players will always be part of our soccer family even when ODP is over.

Reno thanks for a great weekend.

Congratulations to Galena High Boys and Reed High Girls

Congratulation to the Galena High School Boys for winning Northern Nevada Zone.  They beat Carson after 2 OT and won on the 7th PK, what a game.
